GYROTONIC® (South Raleigh/Garner)
The Gyrotonic Expansion System® is a three-dimensional exercise program performed on weight and pulley based equipment specifically designed to assist the body’s natural movement. Using the flexibility and calmness of yoga, focus of tai chi, grace of dance movements, body sculpting of weight training, and the core benefits of Pilates, founder Juliu Horvath created the flowing movements of Gyrotonic®. Each exercise is performed in rhythm with corresponding breathing patterns creating a program based on individual needs ranging from gentle to vigorous.
Gyrotonic® exercises focus on large circular movements radiating from the core out to the limbs. The exercises and breathing patterns enhance aerobic and cardiovascular stimulation and promote neuromuscular rejuvenation. The exercises emphasize multiple joint articulations without compression, thus strengthening the joints and surrounding ligaments making the connection between bones stronger.
The exercises are performed on equipment specifically designed around the human body to allow freedom of movement with no restriction to speed or versatility. The gentle stretching, twisting, bending and circular movements along with awareness of breath, produces flexibility in the spine, and releases joints from muscular and ligament constriction, enabling an individual to stretch and strengthen their body, while increasing range of motion, enhancing coordination, and improving strength and flexibility.
Adjustable to the needs of every body type and strength level, the Gyrotonic® system is used worldwide by individuals of all ages in therapeutic, sport-specific, dance and general conditioning facilities.

Pilates Fine Tuning Workshop
For both Pilates participants & teachers
I am excited to share my knowledge with both Pilates instructors & Pilates students (beginner to advanced) at this special Raleigh workshop.
This workshop will focus on achieving optimum benefits from all aspects of your Pilates Practice. Topics that will be addressed include fine-tuning movements, proper use of props, tactile cueing, Pilates then and now, back to the basics and more.
“It was so great to be in your teaching space once again- the energy and infectious enthusiasm you bring to your students is amazing! The key thing I’m going to take forward is to remember that every exercise is a full body exercise and when it doesn’t feel like that, to always look for the opposing forces in the movement to figure out what needs to be turned on that isn’t. And, when in doubt, I’m probably not using either my abs or glutes (or both) anywhere near enough in most exercises.”
–David Johnson: participant of Pilates Fine Tuning Workshop in San Diego
